Welcome to Lidingö Gospel! Lidingö Gospel is a gospel choir of the congregation of Lidingö, an island in the Stockholm Archipelago in Sweden. The choir started in 1996 and we are about 35 persons. We practice every Tuesday evening and sing about once a month in our homechurch in Brevik. We sing modern gospel, traditional gospel and spirituals.
Since the choir started we have had several choirleaders. Each leader has helped building our choir to what it is today. Our current choirleader Martina W Möllås leads us with her energy and spirit to new levels and makes us develop with our hearts, souls and voices! Also in her own spare time Martina sings in the known gospel choir By Grace, directed by Daniel Stenbaek who also sometimes accompanies Lidingö Gospel on the piano.
Other great musicians that play with us on a regular basis are Sebastian Robertsson on piano, Johan Tjernström on baseguitar and Jonas Lidholm on percussion.
During the year we also give concerts, sometimes with guests both from abroad and nearby like Chris Harris, Bryant Jones, Walt Whitman, Cyndee Peters, Triple & Touch and Frank Ådahl.
We do not only sing in our homechurch. We even sing in other churches in Stockholm and surroundings and even at events like Lidingöloppet - the world´s largest cross-country race. Gospel keeps them running!
About once a year we visit another part of Sweden to be together as a choir, to learn and to sing in other congregations. In 2006 we got the great opportunity to meet the roots of Gospel in Chicago! An experience for life, which definitely influenced our choir.
